PTA stands for Parent-Teacher Association. We're a volunteer organization that brings together parents, teachers, and community members to support our students and school.

Everyone! We welcome parents, grandparents, teachers, staff, community members, and local businesses. You don't need to have a child at Tomahawk to join and support our school. Join today!

Membership dues for the school year are as follows:

• $15 per individual

• $30 per family

• $10 for staff members

• $10 for community members

These dues help fund PTA programs and events. Join today!

Absolutely! There are many ways to support the PTA: Make a donation, shop using Box Tops, attend Food Nights, share our social media posts, or simply join as a member. Every little bit helps!

You can volunteer at many events without being a member, but we encourage membership to support our programs and have voting rights at meetings. SMSD does require "MVP" training for adults wanting to help out at the school or events with students, so we highly encourage you to do that! In the meantime, let us know how you think you could help.

General PTA meetings that are open to everyone take place 3 to 4 times per school year. Check for upcoming meetings on the PTA calendar. Executive board meetings for board members and committee chairpersons take place monthly—if you have an agenda item you'd like discussed, contact the PTA!

They are held at Tomahawk Elementary School, which  is located at 6301 W. 78th Street, Overland Park, KS 66204.
